about Anna Tuhus

Anna Tuhus is an artist, whose practice primarily focuses on embroidery as a means of narrative expression through composition, form, and colour. Naturally dyed silk fabric form the foundation for intuitive, freestyle embroidery. With an emphasis on tactile qualities and viewer interpretation, her craft explores the poetic and symbolic possibilities of textiles.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums, including the Barbican Conservatory (UK), Ludwig Forum (DE) and Marzee Gallery (NL).

She holds a Master Degree in Information Experience Design: Experimental Design, from the Royal College of Art (UK), and a Bachelor Degree in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins, University of Arts London (UK).
She has achieved qualifications across various creative disciplines, including; textile art and design from Östra Grevie Folk College (SE), art theory from Halmstad University (SE), pattern construction for womenswear from Malmö Tillskärarakademi (SE), handicraft and design from Linköping University (SE) and goldsmithing techniques from Dackeskolan (SE).

Her work has been recognised with awards from the Swedish Craft and Small Business Association (SE) and the British Goldsmiths’ Centre (UK). She received recognitions from Maison Chaumet and The Swarovski Foundation at BAJD Central Saint Martins, University of Arts London (UK).
She was the winner of Crossborder Design Contest, an initiative by Connect Limburg, Leolux, Mosa Tiles and Zuyd Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design (NL).

She has professional experience within cultural and educational sectors, including; Learning and Engagement at Leighton House, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (UK), and as Heritage Coordinator at Grand Junction (UK), where she led Heritage Training Academy—an initiative supporting 18–24-year-olds from global majority backgrounds in pursuing careers within the museum and arts sectors.
Her teaching experience includes courses in sewing and fashion techniques at Westminster Adult Education (UK), and curriculum management at Hounslow Adult and Community Education (UK). She has undertaken lecturing residencies at ARCH College of Design and Business (IN), where she was the Creative Lead for Fashion Colloquia 2020, and Limkokwing University (London Campus).
